MXX4 regroup

"If we're going to split into two groups, Jeremy goes first with Veronica, Phinagin, Berry, Penelope, Yalala and Rhydian." Waya said. "Your job is to snag Spiral and keep her secure while I gather everyone else." She turned to Eliza, Jeremy and George and pointed at Kale. "Isolate whatever contains Kale, slap a battery on it and get him ready to move now. As soon as I transport the first group, I'm coming back for the rest of you. For now, I'm going to do recon." She looked at Rhydian. "Keep them working. When I get back, we're gone." She pulled up Kale's shadow and stepped inside, vanishing into the shadow realm.

Did she just put him in charge? Rhydian thought in shock, looking at the others for some sort of conformation... "Well, you heard the lady."

Eliza had been just about to tell Rhydian how she couldn't go because she was needed here when Waya, obviously impatient, cut in. Eliza just nodded, though more at Waya than Rhydian, and turned to... Kale. She was began to run her hands over the casing that contained her friend. She needed to take this steady.

George stood up, but it was like watching a spider with a peg leg. He almost skittered when he tried to support himself. For a brief moment, he turned his expressionless face towards the girl who had trapped him with sand and let this happen to him. He was obviously glaring at her, even without proper eyes. Once he could stand, he carefully made his way over towards the machine as well to start his work.

Because no one was injured, the 'medic' had returned the arms and instruments back into the core of his body. All that wasn't put away was Kale's face, which stared a dread expression to them all. The head pulled forward, being attached by a thick metal neck. It turned and extended down to Eliza as she touched him. Kale's upside-down face stared at her, just a foot away from her person.

Due to the face that they would be shadow porting, Maribel walked over to the door and began blockading it with web. She didn't want to be the weak link anymore and was trying to pull her weight and prove herself worthy of staying at the X-school.

Junior stood next to Jeremy as Liz and George began to work. "I can charge a battery long enough to keep him going for ten years... well, five with the way I feel right now... Want me to look around and see if I can find anything?"

"He ought to have some sort of recharge station and portable batteries around here somewhere." Rhydian agreed with Junior

The twins felt a bit out of their element right now. Their abilities weren't exactly of use at the moment. They know little to nothing about mechanics and technology. At least as far as Liz went. Even Maribel seemed to be helping out, but they had no choice but to stand around, a bit clueless.

"That's creepy as fuck." Eliza grunted as she continued to run her hands over the machine "Don't suppose you remember me Kale?" She gave it a weak smile, carefully trying to open up the casing with her bare fingers. This was going to be tough.

Kale's face didn't move, it just stared at her. A red light came out from a bulb on his forehead and scanned over Eliza. Seeing that she wasn't injured, the head retracted.

"It's ok buddy..." Junior said, patting the box that was Kale's head. "We'll get you back home."

When the door was fully cocooned, Maribel stepped away and joined the group. Well, joined the twins and stood near them, watching... not knowing what to do from here.

George was uncertain if this was a good idea, to be taking apart the bot. What if it set off an alarm? He carefully pried away the carapace of the huge machine, revealing the internal workings. They would have to take this apart and try to save this person in the meantime.

Veronica looked over at Penelope and the other girls. "You guys ready to finally give Spiral a piece of our minds?"

"Woman, I was ready months ago. Question is... are you ready? Ms. Rich and Famous?" Penelope asked. She had tried to rally the girls together every chance she got but it always got to the point where they just shrugged her off and accepted their life as Mojo's puppet.

"I'll give you the famous part. But when was the last time you saw me spend any money?" Veronica retorted sharply. There was no hope before that they would have been successful, that was why she'd always shrugged off Pen's attempts. But now...now the cavalry had arrived...

"I think I'll miss all the attention and fanfare." Strawberry said, " Won't miss the fights to the death or that slimy blob's...well, anything."

Penelope looked over to Yalala then, their fourth deadly dancer. She side stepped in her direction and asked, "Are you... sure you don't want to come with us?" They two of them had always butted heads for leadership, but Pen had really always looked up to her. "I'm sure we could figure something out for you on Earth. You could stay at my place. We have plenty of room."

Jeremy just looked sour. He looked between the girls, then rubbed his chin slowly. He doubted that she would be given a piece of their minds really. But perhaps she would take a chunk out of Jeremy's. He was afraid that he would come out of this with something far more literal than the usual meaning of mental scars.

Eliza was carefully taking the machine to pieces, reducing it down, but the process was slow and arduous. Every time she thought she could just rip something out it looked connected to something else, more vital. This would be a difficult job.

"I will try to join you." Yalala said. "I will provide your distraction, but if I am delayed, do not hesitate to leave without me."

"Are you sure, Yal?" Veronica asked her worriedly. They had spent a good long while becoming friends here. It didn't feel right to leave her behind.

Yalala nodded. "If I cannot leave with you, I will find my own way." She said. "Without the collar it is very difficult to keep me imprisoned. All I need to escape this place is momentum."

About an hour later George and Liz, with nominal help from Junior and Rhydian managed to condense Kale's shape into something much smaller. The majority of him had been in the "head" portion of their friend, reducing him down to a mere eighth of his original size. The medical machine he was a part of was just that, machine, but with Liz' advanced intellect, they managed to build a small power cell to keep him alive. He was small, but heavy and it was George's responsibility to keep him safe.

Veronica couldn't help but look at George worriedly. "Please keep him safe..." She wasn't so much concerned that George wasn't capable, he certainly had been able before the Bodyshop got their hands on him...but now he was slimmer and there was no telling what he was capable of in this new body they'd constructed for him. "You are still capable, yes?" It was a rather harsh question, but that was Kale he was being entrusted with.

Phinagin was ready to leave this place for good. It seemed like just being associated with the, now MIA, X-men brought you all sorts of problems.

"I'll look after him." George said, though he was a little worried about the thing in his arms He felt as if he was looking after a disembodied head. How on earth were they hoping to look after this thing? There was less of their friend here than they realised.

"George can do it fine." Eliza said a little gruffly, rubbing her sore hands. Undoing things with her fingers wasn't a nice sensation "We need to concentrate on getting out of here."

"What the hell is taking Waya so long..." Jayden said to no one in particular. "Shouldn't she be back by now?"

"She's doing recon, Jayden. They can't see her in the shadow realm, I'm sure she's fine." Rhydian replied, but he was getting a bit concerned as well. She should have been back by now...

"Yeah." Junior said. He was making a sort of net out of spare cords and scrap he'd found around. It would allow George to carry Kale on his back just in case. "You've seen her look for portals before. She's probably sitting pretty in a shadow somewhere..."

"Glad you boys are so worried about me..." Waya said, stepping up out of a shadow in the corner of the room. "Are we ready? Spiral is in the control room, but I couldn't find Mojo."

"I think we're all set." Jaden said, looking over at Kale.

"One more thing..." Junior said, hurrying over to George. "Put him in here, you can carry him on your back." He didn't think George could be as useful with his hands full.

"Alright." Waya said. "First wave, Me, Jeremy, Veronica, Phinagin, Berry, Yalala, Penelope and Rhydian. Jeremy, your job is to possess Spiral and figure out how to use her ability to skip dimensions. She's been to Earth a lot so focus on those memories. Everyone else, keep the control room secure while I come back and get the rest. Even though we're going in two groups it's probably gonna wipe me out. Since Gorge is the only one without any offensive abilities that we know of, you're responsibility is to Kale and me if I'm out of it. Is everyone clear on their duties?" The remaining members of the group, George, Eliza, Junior, Maribele and the twins for Waya to gather while the other's secured the control room and Spiral.

Phinagin nodded and readied himself by sprouting his usual armor. He didn't know exactly what they were going into, so he waited to create weapons till they got in the room.

Let's get this show on the road." Strawberry said eager to get out of this place.

Jeremy looked paler than usual, his green skin turning a soft lime color, but he nodded. He just stayed silent, rubbing his hands together and hoping that he could do this. It wasn't as easy as they made it sound.

Eliza nodded, walking over to Waya's side. She knew that she was going to have a moment to wreck something, and she was very happy about that. It felt like an age since she'd been able to really let loose.

George took the net from Junior, putting Kale inside with care, then hanging it onto his side like a sling. He was still wondering what they thought they could get from this half machine half person.

"Are you ok man?" Junior asked Jeremy quietly. "You can do this right?" Waya would be able to manipulate Spiral's mind, but she was already transporting over a dozen people in two trips. Her dad couldn't do that back to back. If Jeremy couldn't control Spiral, no one could.

"Don't have a choice." Jeremy pointed out, his eyes slightly glassy. He had to do this... he just hoped that he didn't hurt himself.

"You can." Junior said, placing his hand on Jeremy's shoulder. "You can do this. Come on man..." He sort of punched him in the arm, trying to encourage him. "You can do this... it's what you fuckin do. We've all got faith in you." Hell, if Waya knew he could do it, then he could. She wouldn't have him do this if he couldn't.

Maribel thought Junior repeating himself three times to Jeremy probably didn't help, but she stayed in the background as usual, blending into the shadows from her dark exterior.

The twins didn't exactly have a 'job', so they stayed stationary and could only hope that Waya would be able to handle the huge transport.

Rhydian couldn't help but grab Waya's arm gently. He leaned towards her and whispered worriedly, "Are you sure you can handle this?" He couldn't recall a time she'd transported so many before...

Veronica cracked her neck dramatically and looked at her fellow dancers. "Oh....this is going to be fun!"

"Oh sure... you decline all of my opportunities of escape and your buddies come back and you're dancin' around like a bloody ballerina." Penelope scoffed.

"Suck it up, princess. Your plans sucked." Veronica told her with a sneer, sticking her tongue out at the pink girl.

"At least I made plans." Penelope argued, crossing her arms, "Better than sitting around, being Mojo's personal tube sock."

Waya stepped up to both women. "You wanna put a fucking sock in it or get the fuck out of here?" She asked. She was mostly looking at Penelope who'd started it. She had cut Waya's legs off after all. "Because if you'd rather stay..."

"We're all waiting on your ass anyway." Penelope reminded, a bit offended Waya barged into their conversation uninvited.

Veronica stepped back the moment that Waya spoke up. She knew her place perfectly well, Waya was the boss. Whether Penelope wanted to admit it or not. She couldn't think of anyone here who could deny Waya's status as 'alpha' either... Even if Pen was reluctant to see it.

"Listen Cupcake..." Waya began. "I'm just waiting to make sure everyone is ready. If you've got a problem with taking orders I could just bump you to the kiddy group and let the grownups go in the first wave."

"Hey..." Junior said softly. He was in the second wave... surely she'd just chosen her words in such a way as to inflect Penelope's lower status with the group. He and the twins were very well trained and even though they joked around, they knew when shit was going down and it was time to get serious.

"Kiddy group?" the twins both said in a scoffing manner. Even if she was just saying it to tease Penelope, it still was offensive. "What the fuck?"

Even Maribel was offended. Well, perhaps not offended...just really hurt. Sure she wasn't raised to be an xmen like the rest of the students, but she was trying to improve herself. She frowned and stepped back from the group even more, feeling awful.

"Oh please.... like you need to be giving out more empty threats, Shrimpy." Penelope rolled her black eyes, wanting Waya out of her face.

"You're lucky I don't hand you your face." Waya growled. She owed her for that cheap shot that ended in cutting off Waya's legs. "If we didn't have more important shit to do right now I'd drop you in the shadow realm and let you float there."

Jeremy did hand her her face. The slap had claws to it, literally, his uncut nails were probably quite sharp as the hand spun in and caught Penelope hard on the side of the face. "Shut the fuck up!" he hissed, trying not to alert anything by being loud "All you need to do is shut your fucking face while we try to fucking free you." There was something... not him... in his eyes. They looked angry, angrier than he'd ever been before. Was there blood on his hand from the nails scratching her? He couldn't tell. It felt warm, but that might have just been from the slap. "Now can we get a fucking move on? I have to rip someone's mind to pieces again."

Penelope screamed and clutched her cheek, staggering back. That took her completely off guard. Her and Waya were arguing, sure... but that was a bit much. "YOU FUCK!"

"Jeremy!" the twins shouted together as they hooked their arms in his before yanking him back. "We get that you are stressed out-"
"But that is not cool, bro. Jeez..."

Jeremy almost swung on the twins, and for a second they saw... it almost wasn't him. There was seriously something different. Then it seemed to fade slightly, and he looked confused, then placed a hand on his head. "Just... shut up." he said, pointing a thin finger at Penelope "Alright? I've had it with this place... I'm not letting you slow us down because you're being petty."

While the twins wrangeled Penelope, Yalala stepped between Penelope and Jeremy and pushed her back. She didn't say anything but Penelope was her teammate and this petty bickering was useless.

That took even Waya by surprise and she grabbed Jeremy's hand before he could go in for another. "Woah, woah, woah." She said. "OK, ok, that's enough. You're right, forget it. If we're gonna get out of here we can't be at each other's throats." She knew she had issues with her temper, it took Jeremy's slap to jog her out of it.

Penelope looked at her hand and was thankful there was no blood. She could still feel the scratches on her cheek though, "Way to overreact... FUCKING TWAT!" Using her shout, the invisible "energy arms" launched out from her person, went around the others and shoved Jeremy to the ground. She could've chopped him up like suchi, but she didn't. The shove was enough. Penelope was no push over. "Don't touch me EVER again!" What the hell was wrong with that guy?

Jeremy let out a deep growl, and for a moment, he almost lunged forward again. He then turned to Waya and said "Get us out of here. I don't want to look at this woman any longer than I have to." She should watch out. While he had very little physical strength, he could rip her mind to shreds in seconds. He'd done it to tougher people. He swallowed, standing up and rubbing his face slowly "And don't start screaming again."

"The fuck is wrong with these people?" Strawberry asked Yalala in a hushed voice. "How can they hope to pull this plan off if they can't even get through the pre-mission briefing without coming to blows."

"They have a chain of command." Yalala told Berry. "And Penelope has never been one for taking orders." She stepped into the fray between the two groups and said, "I would like to put forward that this discussion be continued later. We understand our tasks and our goal is the same. Let this be put aside for now." She hoped Penelope would back down. She knew what sort of temper the young girl had. Meanwhile Yalala gently took Jeremy's hand. Her green skin was darker than his, but it wasn't easy being green and saw him as her kindred. "Please?" She asked him gently.

"Yes... yes I'm sorry I just..." Jeremy looked as if he was going to be sick for a second, before nodding to the others and whispering very quietly to himself "Being here makes it worse..." He didn't even know what he meant really. Or rather, he pretended he didn't.

Yalala nodded, then spoke to the twins. "He will molest her no further." She said. "You may let him go."

The twins removed their arm lock on Jeremy, but stayed close. They were a bit worried about him.

Waya though it was not in her nature looked at Penelope. "Sorry." She said, but offered no more than her hand.

Penelope took her hand off of her cheek and shook Waya's hand, "Me too."

"Alright then! Let's get this show on the road, shall we?" Veronica sad boldly, a wide grin on her face. She'd been looking forward to sticking it to Spiral for a long time, but they'd never really gotten an opportunity that looked so promising before.

"Yeah." Waya said, letting go of Penelope's hand. "First wave to me." She said. "Let's get the fuck out of here..."

Jeremy moved over to her side, looking sickly and breathing a little hard as he stood beside her. He needed a check up when he got back.

Eliza joined Waya, looking around at the others and giving a small nod. "Take care."

Junior moved back by the twins, getting out of the way.

Veronica stepped over and took her place beside the other girls.

Walking over and standing behind Waya, Rhydian leaned over to her. "You sure you've got this?" He asked her one more time. This was the last chance she'd have to back out...

Strawberry moved over to Waya, hoping that Yalala was right. If this failed, there wouldn't be a next season for them.

Phinagin walked nearer to Waya so he could be in the teleport bubble. He didnt like the thought of going through any more dimensions then they already had, but this was the only way.

Once everyone was gathered around Waya, she pulled their shadows to her and enveloped the group. Not quite instantly they were transported to Spiral's control room

When they were gone, Maribel sighed and signed, 'So this is the kiddy group?' She was still very offended by Waya's harsh words. Even if they were just meant to empasize, it still hurt. In addition, Mari knew she was the least experienced in fighting...making her feel worse.

"She didn't mean it like that." Junior said. "Her anger gets the better of her... she's a lot like her mom that way..."

"What's that?" Jaden asked, as if he didn't know.
"A stuck up, psycho bitch who needs an attitude adjustment." answered his brother, Jayden.

"Blame the pink chick." Junior said. "Not Waya... you know how she is when she goes all alpha dog..."

'Doesn't mean she can say those things about the rest of us.' Maribel argued, siding with the twins it seemed. Everyone knew Waya was somewhat of a ringleader in their group, but it wasn't right to degrade the rest of them like a class system.

"She was angry, she said something dumb, I'm not going to be so petty that I cling onto something as inconsequential as her saying the 'kiddy group'." Eliza said with a shrug "And really, we ARE the kiddy group. We're going to be arriving after all the action. We've got nothing to do. It was a dumb thing to say, yes, but if I held on to every dumb thing that was said to me I would have stopped talking to the twins long ago."

Junior snorted a short laugh through his nose, but said nothing.

"Aw..." the twins both wrapped an arm around her shoulders and bumped their hips into hers. "You really do care..."

Waya came suddenly spilling out of a shadow in the corner. She hit her hands and knees and staggered to get back up. She looked a little paler than usual... though that was hard to describe considering her complexion was nearly completely white.

The twins' attention went to her and they walked over with caution, "You okay, Petal?" they asked in unison.

george stepped forward as well, looking down at Waya in worry... at least, he would if he had any eyes. "You've pushed yourself too far Waya." he said "You should rest."

"I'll rest when we get to the shadow realm..." She said, reaching up for Jaden's hand. She pulled herself up with his help and sort of leaned between both twins. "If I pass out you cannot move... if you leave me you'll get lost and I might never find you..."

"Right..." Junior said. "Like what happened to your grandmother."

Maribel stepped forward and pulled her finger tips apart from one another. Strands of webbing bridged between them. It was a thought at least?

"Oh hey- that's a great Idea, Maribel." Jayden said, making sure Waya stayed on her feet.
"Definitely. We could all be attached with the webbing so if something happens, we won't be separated." added Jaden.

Waya smiled at her. "Who ever said you weren't useful..." She tried to stand a little straighter. "Ok... It's gonna be dark, but there will be light... almost like a negative photo, where there are shadows here there will be light there, but don't go wandering into any of them. You'll be able to hear what's going on on the other side of them and maybe even talk to the others, I duno, never had to try it since I'm telepathic." she beckoned the group closer so Maribel could connect them with her web.

"Is that what it's meant to be like? It's different for machines." george said as he stepped forward to get attached to someone.

Eliza stepped forward as well, unable to think about the comparison with this and their parents... At least it was togeter.

Maribel began to wrap webbing around their waists. She tied Eliza, the twins, Waya, George, Eliza and Junior, but paused for only a moment as she looked at Kale. For precaution, she put webbing on "him" too, securing him better to George.

"It's always changing." Waya told George. "The change in dimension I think makes it a little different than from back home."

"Don't forget yourself sweet cheeks." Junior said, holding out his wrist so she could tie onto him.

Maribel lifted her head and nodded. He was right, she had forgotten about herself. Smiling at the nickname, 'sweetcheeks', she wrapped web around her own waist and latched it to his. Instead of webbing his wrist, she took Junior's hand into hers and signaled that she was ready. It was nice to feel useful for once.

"Ok..." Waya said, getting ready. She pulled the shadows in the room to her but they seemed to stick for a moment. When she tried a second time they came and enveloped the group in darkness. A moment later they were deposited in waya's shadow realm
